NCSU James B. Hunt Jr. Library
Blair began concrete construction on the Hunt Library in May 2010 at the North Carolina State University Centennial Campus. This facility will be a state-of-the-art library with 250,000 square feet of study rooms, commons areas, faculty areas, teaching & visualization lab, creativity zone, and snack/gaming venues. It will also house the Institute for Emerging Issues. The four level Hunt Library was designed by Swedish firm Snohetta and features an automated book retrieval system (ARS) which can hold nine times more books than conventional shelving. Blair’s turnkey scope is the cast-in-place concrete for the ARS (mud mat/slabs/foundations/walls), core foundations/walls, shear walls, stair/elevator towers, and slabs on deck.
The General Contractor is Skanska USA Building Inc., and completion is scheduled for this fall.
