This project located in downtown Raleigh consists of a 127,000 SF cast-in-place parking deck, two concrete cores, over 116,000 square feet of slab on metal deck, pan filled stairs, cast-in-place stairs, and topping slabs.  Blair kicked off construction of the concrete structure in January in a very confined work area.  The General Contractor is Clancy & Theys, and the scheduled completion for the concrete portion at the SECU Office is this Fall.

Blair began concrete construction on the Hunt Library in May 2010 at the North Carolina State University Centennial Campus.  This facility will be a state-of-the-art library with 250,000 square feet of study rooms, commons areas, faculty areas, teaching & visualization lab, creativity zone, and snack/gaming venues. It will also house the Institute for Emerging Issues.  The four level Hunt Library was designed by Swedish firm Snohetta and features an automated book retrieval system (ARS) which can hold nine times more books than conventional shelving. Blair’s turnkey scope is the cast-in-place concrete for the ARS (mud mat/slabs/foundations/walls), core foundations/walls, shear walls, stair/elevator towers, and slabs on deck.

The General Contractor is Skanska USA Building Inc., and completion is scheduled for this fall.

A two-story building home to various Duke healthcare practices, Blair’s scope for this project included foundations, excavation for and pouring of casting beds, forming and bracing panels, tilt-up walls, pouring slab on grade, and slab on metal deck. This job recently received the 2009 Eagle Award from the ABC of the Carolinas in the Excellence in Construction competition.

The North Carolina Department of Corrections Central Prison Regional Medical Center will serve as a comprehensive general and specialty outpatient clinic for inmates at the North Carolina Central Prison System. Blair’s work on this project consists of two 5 story buildings, each with a structural concrete frame, plus a 3-story linking corridor with a cast-in-place basement.
